Do you love Amaranthus?

Fall is officially here! These fun hanging amaranthus plants are popular for fall use and are starting to become available as October begins.

Name: Amaranthus

Red and Green Hanging Amaranthus

White Hanging Amaranthus

Colors Available: White, green and red. Right now we have red and green available on Bloom, but I absolutely love the white hanging amaranthus that fifty flowers has available. We will definitely have to get it added to our inventory, it reminds me of a winter wonderland!

Scent: No scent here!

Best For: Any fall arrangement! With their long hanging stems, it is sometimes used in tall arrangements/vases so that it can hang down from the sides.

Season: Amaranthus is available October through mid December

Fun Fact: Amaranth grains are toasted, sort of like popcorn, and are mixed with chocolate or honey and served as a popular Spanish snack.

Favorite Arrangements!

What do you think of these arrangements made with amaranthus? The possibilities are endless… I love the idea of using it in a boutonniere! I think the red with a white hanging amaranthus would look amazing as a small boutonniere. What do you think?

Amaranth love full sun, well drained soil and watered when it is dry (who doesn’t?!) The plants will grow anywhere from four to eight feet tall, depending on your soil. And you can harvest your grains for food if you’d like! Grains are sold in health stores around the U.S. and are usually cultivated from South America and Asia.
